"The Eyes of Clovis Project"

Artist

Ruben Armenta

As an Art Major, Ruben Armenta attended the University of Maryland, Munich Germany Campus.  Participation in the University's Study Tours Program enabled Ruben to study art, not only in Germany but also in France, Italy and Czechoslovakia.

Several years after returning to the United States (Clovis, N.M.) he enlisted in the military as an Air Force Illustrator.  From 1989 to 2001, he held the position of Advertising Art Director with Headquarters U.S. Air Force Recruiting Services Department of Marketing and Promotion.

Prior to enlisting Ruben designed yellow page ads for Mountain Graphics in Albuquerque, N.M.   In 2006, after 20 years active service he retired from the United States Air Force.

Since retiring, Ruben has devoted his full time to freelance Commercial Art.  A number of local businesses in Clovis, Cannon AFB and the surrounding area have his works on display.  One of the largest works a 4' X 8' commissioned painting is permanently on display at the Clovis Veteran's Administration (VA) Clinic.

Ruben Armenta considers himself to be more of an illustrator...one who also paints on the side.  "I'm a brush for hire."  Aside from commissioned portraits and graphic designs Ruben enjoys painting Aviation art and old windows as well as eyes.  "I'm fascinated by flight, the rustic southwest and just like the uniqueness of an old weathered window, I find the beauty and expressiveness of the eyes just as captivating."
